Our Master of Education Program will prepare you to transform society by motivating, challenging, and assisting children in all educational settings. Our faculty, students, and alumni shape how children learn - in our region, the Commonwealth, and throughout the United States. These professionals are engaged with a wide array of educational challenges: from closing the achievement gap to making best use of classroom technology, and from educational ethics to assisting students with special needs. Our program is designed to meet your needs and learning interests, and to help you achieve your specific career objectives. Pathways to Teaching

Our Graduate Programs in Education provide you with a clear pathway to complete your Initial Teaching Licensure and your Master of Education (MEd).

  • Apply by April 15 to begin the program in Summer 2024
  • Nearly all coursework can be completed online and in synchronous classes
  • Courses are scheduled in the afternoons, evenings or weekends to meet the needs of working educators
  • Complete your graduate level licensure coursework in 18-24 months
  • Take prep workshops to prepare you for the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL)
  • Map your program during individual advising sessions with faculty advisors

Info sessions provide potential students with the opportunity to meet with faculty and staff to learn more about how to continue education in three of MCLA’s programs that are designed to support rising educators needs in the Berkshires and beyond.

The MEd program offers a blend of classroom and fieldwork experiences that prepare students to make a meaningful impact in their school communities. Programs include MEd with initial licensure, professional teacher licensure with MEd, MEd with individualized plan of study non-licensure, and accelerated 4+1 bachelor’s degree with MEd.

Our program offers teacher licensure in early childhood, elementary, middle school, and secondary education.
