The smaller collegiate atmosphere allows students to become involved with the various media outlets early in their college career. Students have opportunities to attend and participate in various academic and professional conferences and workshops, both on and off campus, as well as public readings and performances. Internships have included: reporting for local and regional newspapers, both print and online; public relations facilitating for nonprofit organizations; writing press releases for sports teams; serving as production assistant in radio, TV, and film; and serving in various capacities at a local writers' collaborative, in area schools, at local art institutions, and with a local book publisher.
